TechnologyKeeping you in the UgMO™ Zone

Software: Bringing Intelligence to the World's Soil

You’ve heard the expression, “I’m in the Zone.”  Well, UgMO™ gives these words new meaning with its ability to optimize turf health, enhance playability and save money by consistently measuring rootzone moisture, salinity and temperature and applying best practices to your turf management.

Ugmo Software

This is the data collection component of the web application. You will be able to monitor in real time, from your office or from on-site or remote locations, the key variables of moisture, salinity and temperature from each sensor site. The graphic displays are more user-friendly than ever before.

Ugmo Software

UgMO™ believes that data without interpretation is, well, just data. UgMO™ Knows is all about turning data into useful and ultimately essential information. UgMO™’s intelligence, aided by our agronomic consultants, will help you set high-low threshold ranges for each sensor location so that you instantly know whether you are in or out of the optimal range for growth conditions and playability. We call this being in the UgMO™ Zone.

Ugmo Software

By continuously analyzing the recorded data and thresholds for each location, this component visually alerts you to conditions at each sensor location and suggests what actions are needed to keep you in the UgMO™ Zone. UgMO™ will help you be more efficient and effective than ever before. Taken together, these three components represent a major advancement in properly monitoring soil conditions to provide ultimate health in whatever is being grown above the soil. Managing within the UgMO™ Zone will lead to unprecedented savings in resources and money. That is our purpose. UgMO™ Saves!

Access the Best Minds in the Business

  • You’ve heard the expression, “I’m in the Zone.”  Well, UgMO™ gives these words new meaning with its ability to optimize turf health, enhance playability and save money by consistently measuring rootzone moisture, salinity and temperature and applying best practices to your turf management.
  • Once UgMO™ sensors are installed, AST agronomists consult with you to evaluate site-specific conditions necessary to develop an optimal “UgMO™ Zone” using    our wireless soil sensors’ key information. •  Threshold levels are carefully established at each sensor site to monitor your rootzone and recommend the right combination of moisture, salinity and   temperature for each location to keep you “in the zone.”
  • On a real-time basis, you will know how to manage your turf and remain “in the zone” and keep your turf in optimal condition.
  • AST agronomists provide ongoing consultation to discuss threshold adjustments, other modifications and even predictive capabilities.

The State-of-the-Art

UgMO™ is the pioneer in wireless real-time rootzone monitoring. Its hardware package of in-ground sensors and wireless communications system is the most advanced in the industry and fully patent protected. The system is also field proven and reliable and, importantly, compact and non-invasive. In-Ground Sensor System consists of the following:

  • Cylindrical shape: 8×4 in. Buried with a Standard Cup Cutter
  • Supports 2 sensors: analog or digital
  • 3 “D” Cell batteries: 4+ years life, field replaceable
  • 1 Watt FHSS radio board supports approximately 400 ft. range 4 in. in ground
  • Sensor interface and antenna for over air programming for product upgrades
  • ISO 9000 Manufactured

Benefits:

  • Uses standard golf green-side tools for minimally invasive, easy install
  • Designed for years of consistent uninterrupted service
  • Easily located for aerification

Soil Sensors Key Functionality: Sensors provide accurate, real-time data on soil moisture, temperature and salinity Key Features:

  • Pre calibrated for sand, silt and clay
  • Moisture measurement: Accuracy: +/- .02WFV from 0 to saturation at < 2.5 dS/m conductivity+/- .04WFV from 0 to saturation at 2.5-5dS/m conductivity, Repeatability: +/- .001WFV, WFV is the fraction of soil occupied by water, a soil at 10% soil moisture has a WFV of 0.10.
  • Conductivity measurement: Accuracy: +/- 2% or 0.02dS/m, whichever is greater, 0-2.5dS/m+/-5%, 2.5-5dS/m, Repeatability: +/-1% or .01dS/m whichever is greater, 0-2.5dS/m, +/-4%, 2.5-5dS/m
  • Temperature measurement: Accuracy: +/- 0.5°C from -10 to +50°C, +/- 1°F from 14 to 122°FRepeatability: 0.05°C, 0.1°F

Benefits:

  • Dual sensors allow gradients of soil moisture, conductivity, and temperature to be monitored
  • High accuracy and repeatability
  • No individual sensor calibration required

Above-Ground Wireless Mesh Network consists of the following:

Communication Control Nodes Key Functionality: CCNs are the interface to the Sensor Nodes. Each is a radio node that automatically joins and forms the mesh network on power up. Key Features:

  • Range of ~1 mile above ground unobstructed
  • Requires 1 Amp while transmitting
  • 12-24 Volt AC or DC power
  • Can be attached via 110/220 Volt power adapter
  • Weather proof enclosure

Benefits:

  • Self forming, self healing, multihop mesh network
  • No special wiring required
  • Two way communications with link quality statistics
  • Control of buried nodes
  • The multihop mesh allows extension of the wireless coverage area far beyond the nominal range of the radios

Sensor Node

Key Functionality: The Sensor Node provides wireless interface between the sensing elements and the Communication Control Nodes (CCNs) that form a mesh network.
